Dr Kareem Salhiyyah has particular expertise in performing Totally Endoscopic Mitral Valve Repair. He is trained in Belgium with one of the first and leading surgeons in the world on the technique. This is performed through very small incision on the side of the chest using 3D camera. It achieves high repair success rate.
The Totally Endoscopic Surgery can be used to perform:
- Mitral valve repair and replacement
- Tricuspid valve repair and replacement
- Atrial fibrillation surgery
The Minimally invasive approach is also using for aortic surgery through small J sternotomy, and potentially small thoracotomy approach. Dr Salhiyyah is also trained in performing trans-apical TAVI.
Dr Salhiyyah is one of the few surgeons trained on the principles of Robotic Heart Surgery.
