Dr Kareem Salhiyyah is very passionate about mitral valve disease. He has extensive experience and expertise in mitral valve repair techniques.
Dr Salhiyyah trained with some of the world’s best mitral surgeons; he first trained in open mitral valve repair techniques, and subsequently trained on performing minimally invasive totally endoscopic mitral repair and replacement. He performs mitral repair with high success rate excellent outcome. He also performs Totally Endoscopic Mitral Valve Repair through very small incision on the side of the chest. This type of surgery offers less pain and discomfort, better cosmesis, quicker recovery and return to work.
Kareem has extensively studies the mitral valve. His PhD research focused on studying the cardiac cellular biology of the mitral valve. He published a number of high quality peer review publications on the mitral valve and presented in respected scientific meetings. He attended many courses and teaches on mitral valve repair techniques.
