Atrial fibrillation affects more than 2 million people in the UK.  It affects patients symptoms and performance, heart function, and is linked to increase risk of stroke.

The science and experience in performing atrial fibrillation ablation is evolving and new technologies are on the horizon.

Surgical ablation can be performed as part of other heart surgery procedure such as mitral valve repair or as an isolated ablation procedure.  It can also be performed using open or endoscopic approach.
